Orientia tsutsugamushi is an obligate intracellular alpha-proteobacterium of the family Rickettsiaceae. Scrub typhus is the disease caused by this organism in the Asia-Pacific region when transmitted by infected chiggers, larval mites. Our inital product in the area is a micro-IFA format with 3 strains of O. tsutsugamushi represented.
